A Harvard Rite for the Yalies
Little did we know that Alan Gilbert was conducting the Harvard version of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring for last week’s season opening concerts. But that’s what the Music Director, a Harvard grad, told members of the Yale Orchestra after the Philharmonic’s Friday evening concert.
Ivy League rivalries temporarily set aside, the group posed for a photo, among them Philharmonic violinist Sharon Yamada (far left) and Philharmonic Principal Harp Nancy Allen (third from right, second row ), whose daughter, Claire, plays with the Yale group.
