In Memory of Carlos Moseley (1914–2012)
It is with deep sorrow that the New York Philharmonic acknowledges the passing of Carlos Moseley (shown here with Leonard Bernstein during the 1970 tour of Japan).
This true gentleman had an unparalleled, decades-long career with the Orchestra. He began as Director of Press and Public Relations in 1955 and rose to become Managing Director, President, and Chairman of the Board. His passionate support continued long after his retirement in 1985, and in 2001 he was named an Honorary Member of the Philharmonic-Symphony Society. Carlos Moseley’s legacy remains with us in countless ways, including the Orchestra’s annual, free Concerts in the Parks, established during his tenure.
The New York Philharmonic will dedicate this evening’s performance in his honor.
