Doors Open
Audience members are filling Avery Fisher Hall this morning as the Philharmonic gets rolling after a brief storm-related hiatus with an Open Rehearsal of the program for tonight through Saturday: Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Ludmila, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, and Elgar’s Enigma Variations, conducted by Charles Dutoit.
A big welcome to pianist Nikolai Lugansky, who will be joining the Orchestra for the first time to prepare for his New York Phllharmonic debut in these concerts.
