Winterwear
The front of Avery Fisher Hall has acquired a new look for the month of June as we count down the days to our season finale, A Dancer’s Dream. Check out what we have brewing for the double-bill of Stravinsky ballets starring New York City Ballet principal dancer Sara Mearns and helmed by Giants Are Small (the creative dynamite behind Le Grand Macabre and The Cunning Little Vixen). If nothing else, the frosty touches are helping to alleviate the humidity New York has been experiencing for the last few days…

Opening Day!
It’s here. Join in the action even if you can’t make it to Avery Fisher Hall for this morning’s Free Dress Rehearsal or this evening’s Opening Night concert. WQXR will be broadcasting live from the Lincoln Center Plaza all morning, including interviews with Music Director Alan Gilbert, pianist Leif Ove Andsnes, and Philharmonic fans.
Come nighttime, WQXR will also broadcast the concert live starting at 7:30 p.m., and will carry on a live Twitter conversation during the evening.
And follow the Philharmonic on Twitter throughout the day for live coverage and photos.
Join us as we kick off an exciting new season!

A Quick Dinner
Avery Fisher Hall was the backdrop last evening as a dinner flash mob of more than 3,000 descended on Lincoln Center’s Josie Robertson Plaza for the second Diner en Blanc to take place in New York City. The location of the event, which takes place in cities around the world, is kept secret from participants until the last minute. Luckily, everyone brought their own chairs, tables … and, of course, food.

Mostly Mozart, Free Preview
While the Philharmonic is away from home, Avery Fisher Hall plays host to the Mostly Mozart Festival. Louis Langrée and the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra kick off events with a free preview concert tomorrow (Saturday, July 28), including Mozart’s Symphony No. 38, Prague, and Schubert’s Symphony No. 4. Here’s the info.

The New York Times calls “Tangle” something that looks “as if it were created by Spiderman after a hefty dose of hallucinogens.” Yesterday, children got their first shot at creating a messy elastic playground on the plazas of Lincoln Center. “Tangle” will continue to grow through this Sunday, the 29th, on Josie Robertson Plaza. Here, a member of Polyglot Theatre Company shapes the playground between performances.
Read the New York Times rave about Polyglot Theatre’s “Tangle” here. To participate, visit www.lcoutofdoors.org for a schedule.
