Double bassist Roman Patkoló, whom Anne-Sophie Mutter, The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, calls “the Paganini of the bass,” performs with Ms. Mutter on an intimate chamber music program featuring Musicians of the New York Philharmonic on Sunday, April 3, at Avery Fisher Hall. Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence, returns to the Philharmonic for the New York Premiere of Sofia Gubaidulina’s Violin Concerto In Tempus Praesens, conducted by Michael Tilson Thomas, March 31 and April 1–2, as well as a chamber concert with Philharmonic musicians on Sunday, April 3 featuring two new works by Wolfgang Rihm and Krzystof Penderecki with guest double bassist Roman Patkoló, and music by Beethoven and Mendelssohn.
